coolest.thing.ever

this has to be the neatest thing I've ever seen

just wanted to share that, and save it for myself, for later :)

dare I say?

I believe my craiglist addiction might finally be over. I KNOW I KNOW - that's crazy talk. But I haven't been there all week.

could it be true???

on the mend

yes, I'm a sucky sick person. I admit it. While I wish I was strong and not a whiner, I'm just not. I will accept this about myself.

I am doing better, finally! Thanks for all your well wishes! Have to tell you a cute story about Noah. Monday afternoon I was feeling RRRRRRREALLY shitty. As you know I felt like crap, working was going crazy and I just lost it. I was on the phone with Peter just crying my eyes out. It was quite a scene you can imagine.

As I'm freaking out I hear Noah in the kitchen (well hard not to hear him as he's like 4 feet from me LOL)He pulls out a glass, gets ice (super soft crunch ice for now) out of the freezer, opens a diet coke, pours it and waits for me. Once I'm off the phone he ever so sweetly brings me over my soda.

DUDE! Made me cry even harder......but for a completely different reason.

should change that name of this place

Seriously, I need to change from [randomness] to [BITCHYNESS!] that's all I do anymore.

Went to the oral surgeon today. They wanted me to come in earlier that scheduled because I was still in pain. Just a precaution. Well, everything looks fine, no infection or anything, but he said I should expect another 2 weeks of pain. 2 freakin weeks! ugh.

"I worked you over pretty good" were is exact words. That's not something I want to hear from a doctor! haha

He's a great surgeon and I know all this pain is no reflection on his abilities. Nor am I a big baby. This shit hurts. It's expected.

To top it off I've had a deep, steady headache since the surgery that no medication really touches. It's kinda like a halo that wraps around my head just above my eyes and around my neck. It sucks.

So, this place is going to be [BITCHYNESS] for a while. Don't blame ya for not checking in. :)

my mouth still hurts

that's pretty much all I have to say about that. did too much yesterday and not enough ice and have been paying for it ever since.

phooey. Please someone tell me that having all my teeth and forgoing the whole white trash thing will be worth it, but right now I feel like I could handle the black hole in my head.

well that went well

first day back from oral surgery. Looks like I stuck a golf ball in my right check. The painkillers are good though...the proof is that it look much to long for me to remember which cheek "that side" was. I literally had to loook at my hands! LOL

On a completely different note, I'm a little bummed. I went to ali's blog for a quick read and saw this:

5. And the new Bob Dylan is good.

yeah...more proof she and I have almost nothing in commom personality wise. That's not bad mind you, we are all different. And maybe it's not fair judging the new Bob Dyla, as I haven't heard it. Shit, I didn't even know they guy was still alive. But I've never heard a single thing from him I liked. aw well...diiiiiferrrrrrrrent stooooooookes forrrrrrrrrrrr diiiiiferrrrrrrrrrrent foooooooolk. (that's me on drugs doing bob (probably on drugs) hahaha)

okya, I'm done being polictially incorrect. Off to bed.

going under

Going under 'the knife' this morning. Having the second of three surgeries on my tooth. This is the part where they...umm....put the implant part in my bone. I'd get more detailed - I'd planned on it even - but they have me on valium to...well...have you relaxed I suppose.

I'd say it doesn't work but this little entry has already taken like 10 minutes to write. With pausing and thinking and thinking some more and type a bit things aren't moving at break neck speed.

me likey valium.

I seriously can see how easy it would be to get hooked on this shit. It's pretty damn cool. I have 4 pills. four.teeeeny pills. hahahahaa With only 4 I think the risk of me needing to go on "intervention" is low. But damn, if they actually filled the big ole bottle I'd be set for life (or for the week knowing my obessivenesscisity) yeah. valium is fun.

bye bye now bye bye ...yes. I'm waving. with this floppy hand kind of wave. :)

there is no God

There simply can't be. I'm questioning everything after Lukas won last night. ;)

Let me just say this - ROCK STARS DO NOT WEAR LIP GLOSS.
seriously people, LIP GLOSS????? I won't even go into the full blown "all fashtionista" not-masculine-at-all make-up. I'll just leave y'all pondering the lip gloss.

Lukas living proof for all you card carrying aethists out ther that, in fact, there is no God. That, or He's tone deaf. :)

HOL-LEE CRAP

WOW! Was that fun and exhausting and exciting and informative and fun and fun and fun.

Creative Escape rocked people. simply rocked. If you are even remotely thinking of going next year - DO IT. sign up now! You will NOT be disappointed.

Before I break it down I owe Beth a HUGE thank you for taking Kate for 2 days!!!!!!! COULDN'T HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT YOU GIRL!!!! thanks :)

I was there as a volunteer. I was called a "floater" NOT THAT KIND you sickos! I 'floated' with the group I was assigned to - the Petunias. THEY KICKED ASS! more on that later. Along with being with them during their 8 classes over friday and saturday I ran (along with Janna!) a booth at Thursday, assisted a secret class and a mini class on Friday, and was just pretty much 'on' the entire time to help people with whatever they needed help with.

It was exhausting. There at 7am. working non-stop until 11:30pm and doing it again. e.x.h.a.u.s.t.i.n.g. My feet still hurt. But it was SO worth it.

Why was it worth it? 3 reasons:

1. My group. The Petunia Group. The best group there! They were easy going, sarcastic, funny, smart and overall chill women. They 'got' me and Amy (my companion floater LOL) We all hit it off right away and things just kept getting better and better. Had it not been for them I might have a completely different take on the whole thing.

2. Heidi Swapp. She just as much of a kick ass a person as she seems she'd be. But real. There's nothing fake about her. I didn't spend much time one on one with her, naturally, as people were pulling all of us in every direction possible. But I'll never forget hanging with her before her class, assisting her and just learning from her.

3. Stacy Julian. She was the Keynote speaker. I've seen her many times and every time I'm left feeling stronger and better and even prettier than before. It's hard to explain what she's got. But she's got it, that's for sure. I'm left not wanting to be her (which happens to me so often when I'm around super cool chics) but wanting more to be me. Feeling more comfortable in my own skin. Now's THAT'S a motivational speaker!

I can't explain, really, the levels of goodness that went on this weekend. There were so many great things. But the single greatest moment for me (besides single handedly calming down 18 very angry women during one class - or tracking down the gold heart pin one lady lost) was sitting in the back of the Ballroom and having 600 women give us, the volunteers, a standing ovation. The moment made me cry then, and is making me cry now. THAT SINGLE MOMENT made up for every pissed off person I dealt with, all the blisters on my feet, every hour I didn't get to sleep. In that moment I realized, "HELL YEAH I'd do this again"

Not that I've been great about updating my blog my I'll be gone for the weekend. I'm working at Creative Escape. It's going to be a TON of work for me (and the other 41 volunteers and 12 teachers and countless other staff people) but that will make it all that more enjoyable for the attendees (like Lisa and Shanna

I'll be back with - hopefully - plenty of pictures. :) Have a great weekend all!

my storage solutions

Got a couple questions about how I store my stuff so here goes. From biggest to smallest.

This is one of those rolling carts Costco had for a while. Each box has a lid (which is a little wonky if you ask me) You need to pull the entire box all the way out to get inside. Honestly, this isn't the most ideal storage but it's the best I've found so far. To bad Costco doesn't have them anymore :( SORRY! They do sell the individual boxes at Michael's

This is a fishing tackle box from Walmart. Not sure if they still carry them. I've had mine for a while. They are GREAT. They come is two sizes. This is the big one. It's like 14 bucks. The small one is around 8. Crazy good deal. I store my ribbon in one box (yes that's 4 trays of ribbon) and I put my small font stamps in another. These rock!

These are little craft boxes also from Walmart. They are found in the craft department. They are super cheep - like 3 bucks I think. One problem with them, the lid NEVER stays on or unbroken. I've accepted that I just put a rubber band around each one, whether it's broken or not! LOL There is an added benefit with the rubber bands in that they keep them from sliding around too much in my basket (when I travel)

These are fun. They are by Craftmate. They used to have them at my LSS but now I have to get them online. A little spendy at 28 bucks but they hold a TON. I LOVE the individual lids that always work. I have 3 of these and would use them for everything if they had different sizes. I get them online now at CreateforLess

My all time favorite I think. I still totally owe my dear friend
Kerry for making me risk my life by going to Walmart to pick these up. THANKS GIRL! They are little tic tac boxes. There are 24 little boxes all contained in one box. I do have the same problem with the lids as the other plastic boxes but just do the rubber band thing. Each box will holds a ton a little brads, like 2 packages (100 brads) I'm always amazed how perfect they are. and these too are cheap - like 6 bucks!!! It's totally worth the risk of venturing into Wally World LOL

it's (nearly) all done!!!

WOW. Busy 2 weeks. That was a lot of work. But the really fun kind of work. I had a blast purging and organizing and painting and accessorizing :) All on a modest budget too! :)

What you've all been waiting for ( LOL :) ) before and afters.

here is the before from the door. I'm ashamed to admit it really did look like this. I didn't stage it for a more dramatic after picture. And it wasn't like like for like a week. More like a YEAR. embarrassing...but true.

and here is the after from the door

from the door but turned a bit to see the "work horse" bookcase. Everything I need to actually get a page done is here. (well except my Crop N Style that lives under that table.

This the before looking from the window/closet

And this is the after from the window/closet

A close up of the newly painted shelf unit thing. It used to be a distress yello with drawers. I pulled out the drawers, painted in brown, and added the clear containers and all the M's. I simply love it.

Before looking into the closet

And the after looking into the closet. The doors have always been off but I added a curtain to cover. My TV is in there, all my scrapbooks, and other long term storage stuff. The curtain is actually 2 tableclothes I found at Target.

This is a peek into the closet. Lots more in here but nothing super exciting or pretty LOL

Here is the bookcase behind me. from top to bottom. What I love about this is everything I use is within reach. All the embellishements are contained in baskets with handles. I did this so when I go to big crops (not at the store) I can just pull the baskets off the shelf and go. No need to 'pack'.

This is what's to my right from where I sit. Have to put pictures in ALL the photos in the room. That's one of the things left to do. All my tools are in the clear drawers under the counter. I love that I don't have to get up to get anything.

and LAST BUT CERTAINLY NOT LEAST. my nearly-very-favorite-thing-of-all-time addition to my room. The new bookcase. This is my 'pretty, mostly useless" bookcase. From top to bottom.

Well that's pretty much it. I love it.
