It's Sarah's turn...

...for a new look.

yeah.............she's.............cute.

my new look

It's my part time look, really. For the computer. So I don't go blind. Kinda funny huh? Wearing glasses even though I can see so I will continue to be able to see. Or is that just a line the eye doctor gives people to justify their job??? *wink*

don't I look smart???? BWAHAAAAAAHhaaa

Merry Christmas Yo!

:)

4:35 am. I can't sleep. I'm still like a 5 year old when it comes to Christmas morning. I just can't wait.

I took a picture of the tree but I'm not going to post it. I ran out of energy on the decorating thing this year. Oh hell, who am I kidding, I didn't START with any energy. So my tree is pitiful. First off, I picked a ugly one. It's super tall, which I LOVE. And it's located in a new place this year, loving that too. But there are holes and unevenness in it. ah well. It's the tree that spoke to me at the time.

We got it up late, like a week ago, and my dad JUST YESTERDAY (Christmas Eve) put the lights on. Thanks daddy! I just couldn't do it. (okay fessing up here, I did have a MONSTER hangover from partying with the young boys from my office on Friday. That left me down and out the entire day WHOOPS LMAO) I had really planned on putting the ornaments up but no one was really excited to help and I REALLY didn't want to do it myself. It's a huge tree and, yah, doing it while 3 grown men sat on their asses in my family room watching football just didn't appeal to me.

So the tree is undecorated. And I'm cool with it. The excuse (beside the aforementioned whiny reason) The girls will be all over it and I'll have broken glass everywhere. Last year (with only 2 chillins) we lost probably 2 dozen ornaments. Heck, the one ornament that Noah brought home from school this year has been carried around all week seeing little time actually on the tree :)

Second reason? Christmas isn't about the perfectly, or even almost, decorated tree. It's about Christ. It's about remembering and celebrating the birth of our Savior. He'd be cool with my fugly tree...so I'm cool with it.

As I think about all this, Christmastime, I get really weepy and deep. Every year I have all these thoughts I want to write to my friends and family. All these deep GRADITUTES I want to sent to each of you. Each year I fail. Each year I get overwhelmed with the process of it all and don't do what I intended on doing.

This year has proven to be no different. I didn't tell you guys how grateful I am for knowing you. I didn't say, "thanks" for being my loyal and loving friends and family. I didn't tell you how lucky I know I am, having such great friends, knowing full well how hard I can be to be friends with. I should have. I'm sorry for not taking the time with each one of you, privately, and express my deep love for each of you. I am truly blessed. truly. And I know it. And I thank you for it.

Merry Christmas my friends!!!

Just for fun

Here are a couple pictures from Sarah's Christmas performance. Nothing great, I suck at taking pictures, I've decided. But that's one cute little girl.

This is the best I could do getting all three in the same picture at the same time.

That's my brother ("my Mike" as she calls him) holding Sarah.

That's all for now. :)

I'm tired

and it's not close to being over. ah...how I love how I do this to myself every year.

This week has been crazy fun, even though I'm now whining. My niece, Kate, came in From Chicago for 4 days. She SAVED MY LIFE (again) with all I have to do. Let me break it down.

She flew in Saturday morning. She wasn't even unpacked when we went with us to get our tree (don't even start!) Then we were going to decorate it but the lost lights (still haven't found them) and the realization that I didn't have my white elephant gifts for the Christmas party (which was that evening) required a change of plans and a detour to Target (Yes, I thought of you Kerry :-) )

So off to target early afternoon to pick up gifts for the exchange. One of which was a cake plate. Evidently, it's like against the law to just give a cake plate EMPTY. So Kate baked cookies for the top. I was happy to let her do that because I had a party to get ready for.

Peter and I left Katie with the kids while we went to my work party at Morton's. YUM-0 YEA, I said it. That place rocks.

Sunday we did lots of stuff. None of which I can remember right now. OH WAIT! We kitted my class. Kate took care of ALL the Cricut cutting. Praise the sweet Lord Jesus too cuz I would have lost my ever loving mind if I had to do it.

Monday I had to work. that sucked LOL Kate wrapped all the kids gifts. That's two years in a row I haven't had to do my own wrapping. Maddy did it for me last year. "someone" must be on my side giving me a little reprive for all the years I wrapped EVERYONE'S presents growing up.

Tuesday was my class. I had to miss Maddy's baby shower. Stupid class! teehee. I hear they had a blast. I'll be there for the next one girl!!! :) After the class we stayed up till almost 2 am working on my NEXT class. Which is the 3rd. STUPID WORK. hahaha

Today we did some power shopping for my gift exchange at SB etc. I have Heidi Lynn. She's all bling, which is cool, but I'm not very blingy so finding something that's bling but NOT TOO MUCH bling was a bit of a challenge. But Kate and I did it and it pretty much rocks. I should take a picture. But I'm lazy.

Then she was gone :( Bye Katie!!!

Tonight I finished my pages for January's class and took them to the store for display.

I designed my store 'take away's' and just sent them to Kinko's to get printed.

My dad comes in from Cali late tonight. I'll be picking him up soon :)

Tomorrow I have to take Noah's to school at 7am cuz my carpool people thought they'd leave me for a vacation to London. Slackers :)

Then I have my SB etc Christmas Lunch. Can't wait for that. should be fun.

Tomorrow night I'm going to "The forgotten Carols" with Karalee and Kaelene.

Friday at lunch my 'real' boss is taking the office for bowling and poooooosssibly some drinks LOL

Not sure when the tree will get decorated or the shopping will get done. I've pretty much resolved that all the snowmen won't be making it out this year. There just isn't anything left in me.

And at some point I need to wrap all my teacher gifts......and to think Kerry emailed everyone just today thinking that I'd gotten myself organized. BWAAAHAHAAA!! good one Kerry!

snapshots

Don't feel like writing much so I thought I'd post some pictures. That's the fun part of blogs anyway, right?! LOL :)

Dems some cute chillins right there. Check the choke hold Sarah's got on Kate. They seriously crack me up.

This is as close as we get to Fall here in AZ. This picture is only one week old. Yes, they are in shorts :)

Anyone know where the baby is? And where's my toothbrush?

Now why would she go stickin her tongue out at Mommy????

....oh yeah....

something to post about

So I was getting ready to post something when I ran across Shanna's latest post with this cute little questionaire. Seeing as my 'something' I was going to blog about hadn't really formed in my head I thought I'd do this :) Thanks Shanna!

1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? Given that choice. Hot Chocolate. Not GROG nog's another story.

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? wraps them up. (just ask Maddy)

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white? BOTH!

4. Do you hang mistletoe? No

5. When do you put your decorations up? I'd love to sat the beginning of December, but I'd be lying to myself. It's usually just before they HAVE to be up.

6. What is your favorite holiday dish? Cadburry Cream Eggs - oops, wrong holiday

7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child? This is on the top 10. I was about 6, bro was 5. Grandma (who I realized even at 6 wasn't really 'fun loving') was in town. On Christmas Eve night someone (my mom?) took us out for ice cream. Grandma rushed to the door when we got home saying we'd JUST missed Santa. "come look! Come look" she said, "Santa was here, you can see his footprints on the hearth! OH I WISH you could have seen him" (Dad did it too, but I remember Grandma more because it seemed out of character for her, which made it all the more believable) They pulled out ALL the presents, filled the stockings and ate the cookies and milk we'd left out. They even put footprints of soot on the hearth of the fireplace. Looking back I don't know why we weren't sad about having missed Santa. I just know we weren't. It was super cool! super cool!

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa ? Can't remember the age I figured out Santa wasn't a real person. I just remember my parents explaining that even though he's not REAL his presence is very real. And the "he is magic"

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? No.

10. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree? Mostly with lights. Like a billion lights. Love the lights. Then lots of balls, either all silver or all gold. Currently we're doing silver.

11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? It's nice, in pictures.

12. Can you ice skate? pretty sure that's a no.

13. Do you remember your favorite gift? I don't really have one. My most remembered gift is probably the roll top desk my parents gave me when I was about 15? 16? ALWAYS wanted one. still have it actually. I'd say that was my favorite but I really do love each and every gift. (man that sound hokey)

14. What’s the most important thing about the Holidays for you? Sharing it with Peter, my kids, my dad and brother.

15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert? Pecan Pie

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? We don't have many hard and fast traditions, yet. I do, however, love that my dad hand squeezes fresh orange juice from our tree Christmas morning.

17. What tops your tree? An angel with a big flowy dress.

18. Which do you prefer giving or Receiving? I love the time experience of Christmas. I won't lie, I like receiving. I also like giving, but I'm kinda bad at it. Dunno why, so sometimes it a lot of stress to find that perfect gift. And once I do hear comes my brother with like the KICK ASS gift. He's a great gift giver!!

19. What is your favorite Christmas Song? Silent Night

20. Candy Canes! Yuck or Yum? they're okay.

one of those days

Ever have a day where you wake up in a bad mood and everything gets worse from there? Where everyone and everything just pisses you off? Where nothing goes right and you wish that you could just crawl back in bed?

Well today wasn't one of those days. :)

Peter made a kick ass Thanksgiving dinner. My dad is in town for a week so he was here for dinner. My bro came over and we had one of Peter's colleagues came over for dinner. She brought dessert - a pumpkin and a pecan pie - AWESOME. I think I ate half of the pecan by myself LOL

Then we all sat around and watched "Cars". Super cute movie.

So now it's all calm. The kids are finally asleep. Company is gone. Dad has gone off to bed. Peter has retreated to the bedroom and I'm here in a quiet house having a moment to myself. Christmas shopping starts tomorrow so I'm taking this time to really think about how grateful I am and just how much I truly have to be thankful for.

I have so much in my life. I'm really super blessed, really. So I'll take this day of thanksgiving to say to you, the ones reading this, thank you! I love you and I can't imagine my life without you! Happy Thanksgiving! :)

Par-Tay!!!

As you might have read on Shanna's blog, some of the MAS girls (we missed you Lisa and Kerry) threw together a surprise bridal shower for Shanna. It was a great time. It was at my house and I brought in Moki's Hawaiian BBQ YUM!. Thanks to Beth we had KILLER snacks and decorations and Kaelene handled the games, prizes and virgin Pina Coladas which completely rocked - even without the Rum :)

This is what the table looked like before we 'started in' on it. It didn't stand a chance ;)

Check out my face - BUSTED! This is right after Shanna and I walked in to find the house fully decorated full of MAS girls. I'm like "who me??? lie??" LOL

Obviously a Hawaiian theme, Beth and I picked up a hula skirt, dorky "bride to be" crown and a gaggle of leis (sp??) We pretty much forced her to wear the get up the whole night....although she didn't seem to mind. And I DON'T wanna know what she does with it once she's tied the knot!

Here we are after Shanna opened her gifts. Maddy and Kerry pretty much stole the show by bringing the entire Kitchen department from Target. suck ups!!! LOL After this we talked about sex all night. That girl really needs to get some! LMAO

We had a lot of fun. Planning it was even fun. who knew?!?! oh yeah, and I realize I pretty much suck at taking pictures. Sorry about that!

dude - this is as random as they come.

I need to update. I know. I always say this.

* I'm getting a cold which pretty much sucks ass.
* My job-job, not my scrapbooking job or book-job, but my real job-job is kicking my butt. Funny how I actually need to WORK there. Ah...to need money for food and electricity.
* I haven't even started thinking about Christmas.
* Hell, I haven't even started thinking about Thanksgiving.
* Haven't taken a picture in over 2 weeks.
* Went to Target today and managed to stay on task - which was getting random "inspiration" things for my class at SB etc.
* Cleaned my house from top to bottom...and 3 hours lates it was trashed :)
* Kate said "thank you" today. Says "bye bye" and Daddy too. But that's about it. She's 'mine' and she doesn't even say mommy yet. What's up with that?
* I have to stop going to 2 peas. That place just sucks. LOL
* My brother and his girlfriend broke up. I wish I was sad. She doesn't deserve him.
* My dad is coming for Thanksgiving. That's totally cool!
* Need to go back to bed...I'm sicky...Pray this Airborne stuff really works.

I'll do better about posting. I mean to, but y'all know that already.
much love!

OH WAIT. one more super major piece of randomness for ya. My text online is super big now. Not sure what I did but I could be across the room and still read whatever site I'm surfing. LOL What's frightening is I'm starting to get used to it so when I figure out how to change it back I'll probably hate it and end up going blind.

BOO! (I really titled this post BEFORE I read Beth's post)

Meet the rare 6 legged spider. Found only in the imagination of the crazy red-head at 1600 west they are a treat to look at and even better to eat. OKay well that's kinda of true. They didn't taste amazing, I'll admit. But then I'm not a fan of black licorice.

Here's the entire clan. They look happy don't they? In a crazy sort of way :)

Halloween tonight was a blast

Sarah was just too damn cute. This was the first time in the wig. Each time after (and there were many) it got a little funkier. But when you're three you can pull off a half-on hot pink wig :)

I wonder if I'll ever regret not spending a lot of time taking pictures of my kids in their costumes. Every year I plan on it. Every year I drag the camera to the party at daycare. And every year I end up with this picture. The excitement of it all just gets to me and I'd rather BE in the action than WATCH the action. So I'm left with these crappy pictures. Ah well....it is what it is.

They are pretty stinkin cute even if the picture bites!

I'm too busy

geez, again I'm back here after over a week complaining about being busy and neglecting this place. I'm no busier than anyone else, I realize. I just don't handle it well, anymore.

Here's a quick list of what I've been up to.

1. getting quote after quote on book printing.
2. completely changing the program the book is written in. So re-writing it.
3. Costume shopping.
4. Harvest Festival as Noah's school
5. Halloween Party at Sarah's school
6. Church meetings on Monday nights (again)
7. football game on Saturday morning
8. Pretty much freaking out because there's not way I'll make CHA Winter. So essentially the book deadline has been pushed back to I don't know when.
9. oh yeah, and my job job. The one that pays me. :)

Gotta run.

OH YEAH. and orange crack doesn't work y'all. The food coloring does 'something' to the mix and makes the sugar stuff isn't cement. I actually threw the batch out. :) I did make oreo spiders for Sarah's party. They were super cute. I hope to post a picture soon.

chao.

my time to share

So Maddy just posted about how funny her kids are and it reminded me of a funny thing Noah said yesterday.

We're driving down Ray Road heading home after carpool pick-up when I get pulled over. Yea, it was fun. Flashing lights, changing lanes, pulling off the road, all with two of my kids and two of someone else's children. Not my proudest moment.

So I stop. The cop stops behind me and gets out. He's walking up to me SO DAMN SLOWLY I wondered if he was ever going to make it. It didn't help that I had an important meeting about the book in 25 minutes or that I really had to pee. That might have made time go slower. So anyway, he's strolling up, checking out the inside of the van, looking for smuggled mexicans or bags of rock cocaine I'm sure. I mean I fit that profile. As he's walking noah asks, rather loudly, "Is he going to shoot us!?"

NO! HONEY, he's not going to shoot us.

Then, in an even more stellar moment, he tells me he pulled me over because my tags where expired. like back in MARCH! hahahahahaaa yeah, I'm a dumb ass. THEN (YES, there's a then) he asks for proof of insurance. Don't you know it, I can't find it. I knew I couldn't either because I was looking for it the other day for the windor repair nazi guy at the carwash who wanted to fix that little ding in my windshield. So I can't find it. He tells me to keep looking while he goes back to him car.

"is he going to get handcuffs mommy?" ugh... (okay I laughed at this one)

He's gone forever...tick tick tick tick...gotta pee...gonna be late for my meeting. I can't find the stupid insurance card. I'm a loser, I realize. Write me that damn ticket already so I can be on my way. sheesh.

THEN, (yes another then) after I've given up looking and put everything back in my purse Noah asks, "So what happens if you can't find it mommy, are you going to go to jail?" NO jail today honey, you're stuck with me.

Okay so maybe you had to be there, the pressure on my bladder made it all seem urgent and funny. And since you're not sitting on the side of the road anxious to use the bathroom with a child who's afraid his mommy is going to the big house it might not be as funny. But to me it was a crack up!

IT DID IT!

Blogger allowed me to post a picture. WOO HOO.

here's the little screen shot of the drawing that contains all my little book sketches. See each one of the TEENY TINY square? That's a page. This here represents the entire book (less chapter break pages - which ROCK!)

see? Told ya it was boring LOL

Tuesday, October 17, 2006

yeah, that was fun

well phooey, blogger isn't letting me upload an image. Probably is a sign as my photo was pretty boring. But I wanted to brag :) It was a screen shot of my AutoCAD drawing of all the book sketches. All 156 of them. It took F.O.R.E.V.E.R.

But they are done now. WOO HOOO!!!

super busy

Haven't forgotten about ya'll. Just haven't had two seconds to rub together.

Things with "the book" are moving forward fast. have some meetings set up for distribtution etc. It's getting scary now. Hopefully I'll be able to actually talk about specifics soon. But for right now I'm going to let it out officially (to all 5 of you who read this thing - which is silly cuz y'all know) that I am writing a book. There, I said it. NO TALK of what it's about yet though. Well beyond that it's a scrapbook-book.

Fishies are doing pretty good. Both nemos are in the clear. Dory is still kickin. I can't believe it to be honest. Her gills are looking good and I don't see any ick yet. So she just might make it (DOH I shouldn't have said that LOL) The starfish has bounced back. This totally surprises me. It's not going up the walls yet (which is what they reall like to do) but he's moving around throughout the tank. The cleaner shrimp has gone MIA. *shrug* have no idea what happened to him.

Kids are good. Noah's been home for a couple days for fall break. That's been nice. He's a good kid.

Sarah got a little haircut. I need to take a picture of it. It's cute - even though the back is crooked as hell. LOL I guess you get what you pay for. And for 9 bucks you get a crooked haircut. She's FINALLY getting this potty training thing. praise the lord! LOL

Kate's still...perfect little katie.

well, back to work :)

Friday, October 13, 2006

thank God

Thank God for Monsters, Inc. and oreos on this Friday night. Gave each kid an Oreo and put on Monsters...they were quiet.

it was magic.

fishy update

It's been 5 days since the food incident. The tank is pretty torn apart still but it's looking better. Both nemo's seem to be fairy well. I do believe they'll make it.

Dory is still alive. Pretty amazing if you ask me. This fish, Blue Hippo Tang, are really senstive and hard to keep. Her gills are burned but she doens't have ick yet (the disease that fish get when they are stressed) and she's eating well. I won't say that she'll make it, but as of last night she was alive.

The starfish is half dead. It started to fall apart (their legs literally fall apart when the die) on Monday. I moved it a couple times and it fought back and buried itself. I didn't see it for 3 days but could tell it had moved a couple times (they leave a star shape in the sand) Then last night I saw it again. Didn't move it, I figured I should let him be. I'm hoping he can weather this storm.

The cleaner shrimp is no where to be found. He's a good hider so it's possible he's alive. I did see him after all the rock got moved but that was on Monday. No evidence that he's dead so I'm thinking he's pissed that I destroyed his house. LOL

So that's my update. Boring to everyone else but me ;)

Monday, October 09, 2006

it's a good thing she's cute

We woke up this morning to Sarah, the increasingly mischievous 3 year old, standing over the small fish tank where she had just dumped a years worth of fish food. By noon, even with a massive water change, e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g in the tank was dead. Even the snails couldn't survive.

Peter came home at lunch with fresh, clean, cycled salt water for the necessary water changes. He also had in hand a bag containing a cute little dory. Bright blue and full of spunk, just like Dory's are. When Peter turned on the light on the big tank to float her he realized that Sarah, in fact, didn't pour the entire bottle into the small tank. :( ABout a third was sitting in the bottom of the big tank. This was not good.

I did a quick water change right then and Peter and I did another huge one tonight. The whole time Dory is trapped in her bag, floating atop of ever dropping water. We've done all we can do right now. At least the water is slightly less...green. ugh.

I know they're just fish but I get attached. I'm like that. Flushing them sucks. But even worse is not knowing if they are going to die. Like watching them being torched. We've been really good about not killing fish lately (mostly because we stopped buying them) and it sucks to be doing this death this again.

So wish us luck and pray for the remaining nemos, the new dory, the starfish and all the other little living things in our tank. they need all the prayers they can get. Or just pray that our little angel will leave the tanks alone :)
